Walk to the Watchtower of Cap d'Or in Moraira

Next we are going to show you different places that you can not miss near Moraira.

Discover the Watchtower of Cap d'Or

Short but beautiful walk to the observation tower: Torre Vigia Cap d'Or in Moraira in the municipality of Teulada. The starting point of the walk (SL CV-51) in one of the narrow streets of El Portet de Moraira. El Portet de Moraira is a beautiful fishing village on the Costa Blanca. The street where we recommend parking your car is Calle Puerto del Sol. Possibly you could try to park in the "large" car park of El Portet de Moraira, but depending on the season the car park could be full (especially in high season in the months of July – August).
The walk has a total of 2 km and starts at the end of the street "Puerto de Alcudia". Try to park on that street as much as possible, because the last two streets are uphill.

Through the protected nature reserve

At the starting point of the beautiful walk, a little hidden under the branches of a tree, you will see a sign with the name indicating the starting point of the walk. The first shorter part of the path begins with a steep climb. The area through which he walks is a micro-reserve of the protected flora of Cap d'Or. Therefore, be very careful not to harm the plants. The surface is irregular and the rocks you walk on are sometimes very slippery due to the numerous climbs. After passing the house on your right, you will quickly reach a small crossroads. There, turn left uphill and follow the narrow path to an information panel.

Crossing of the Cova de la Cendra

At this point you continue walking until you reach a crossroads. There you can turn left, but follow the straight path. The path on the left leads to the Cova de la Cendra on a slope. If our goal was to go up to the viewpoint that day. Follow the path on the right against the slope. The hiking trail circles the mountain uphill and clockwise.

Steep cliffs and beautiful views

After the curve that surrounds the mountain you have a phenomenal view of the Mediterranean Sea and the steep cliffs along the long coastline. On clear days you can discover a good view and you can see far beyond Cap de la Nau. You can see how many boats sail along the coast between Jávea and Calpe. It will look like a highway, but with boats at sea. After 5 minutes walking along the cliffs you will reach a point where you can see the Watchtower of Cap D'Or and walk directly towards it.
Be sure to walk around the plateau in a circle. As you can see you will have a beautiful view of the three beautiful beaches of Moraira and the port. From the viewpoint you can see Calpe well in the distance. There you can also enjoy a nice walk to the top of the Penyal d'Ifac.

El Portet Beach - Moraira

The walk can be perfectly combined with a day at the beach at El Portet Beach, but it is inadvisable to do the ride in flip-flops. It is not a long walk, but as the terrain is quite uneven, it is highly recommended to wear sturdy walking shoes or at least sneakers. Try to start the ride before 9:00 in the morning in summer and bring plenty of water.

Other walks near Moraira

You can also take other pleasant walks in Jávea and its surroundings, such as the walk to the top of the Penyal d'Ifac in Calpe. Also the walk to the Cova Tallada is worthwhile.
In addition to the beautiful walks and the possibility of bathing and swimming, there are other activities to do. For example, an excursion to the waterfalls of Algar and visit the picturesque mountain village Guadalest, located about 20 km from Benidorm. On the way back, a visit to the coastal town of Altea is a must.
