Moraira is undoubtedly one of the most captivating destinations on the northern Costa Blanca. And if there is a place where that charm is fully manifested, it is on its promenade.
In this article, from Olea Home, we want to guide you through this unique coastal environment, tell you its history, its most special corners and how to enjoy it like a local.
The promenade of Moraira is located in the heart of the city, bordering the coast from L'Ampolla Beach to the Moraira Marina.
It is a pedestrian and accessible stretch that offers one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the Alicante coast.
It starts in the area of Moraira Castle, an 18th-century fortification overlooking the bay, and stretches along the main beach until it reaches the port and the Yacht Club, where yachts and sailboats dock.
During the tour, you can find garden areas, terraces, benches facing the sea and restaurants with unbeatable views.
Approximate GPS location:
Start of the walk: 38.6906° N, 0.1338° E (L'Ampolla beach)
Final: 38.6889° N, 0.1359° E (Marina)
This is the main promenade of Moraira town, although there are also two other coastal walks that can be enjoyed very close:
El Paseo del Portet: connects the town with Playa del Portet, one of the most beautiful on the Costa Blanca.
The Cap d'Or trail: a nature route with viewpoints towards the Peñón de Ifach and the wildest coves.
All of them are part of what many visitors call the "promenade of Moraira", although technically the main urban promenade is the one that connects L'Ampolla Beach with the port.
One of the strengths of Moraira is that it is still a quiet and well-organised village.
To enjoy the promenade, you have several free or paid parking options, depending on the season:
Parking Playa de L'Ampolla (free):
Right at the beginning of the promenade, next to the castle. Ideal if you want to start your visit from the main beach.
Calle Castillo, s/n – Moraira.
Marina public car park (blue zone in summer):
Perfect if you prefer to start the tour from the end of the walk.
Avenida del Portet, next to the Yacht Club.
City centre parking (free out of season):
Just a 5-minute walk from the promenade.
Doctor Calatayud Street or Almacenes Street.
In summer, we recommend arriving early (before 10:00 am) to find a place easily.
You can also take advantage of local bus or taxi services that connect nearby urbanisations with the centre of Moraira.
From the promenade of Moraira town you can easily access some of the most emblematic beaches and coves on the Costa Blanca. The first is L'Ampolla Beach, located right at the beginning of the promenade, in front of the castle. It is the largest and most family-friendly in Moraira, ideal for swimming, paddle surfing or enjoying a day in the sun with all the services on the beach. If we continue walking towards the port and continue along the coastal path, we arrive at the beautiful Playa del Portet, a bay with crystal clear waters and fine sand that looks like something out of a postcard. Further on, for those looking for quieter corners, Cala Andragó stands out, with a rocky bottom perfect for snorkelling, and Cala Cap Blanc, wilder and with spectacular views of the Peñón de Ifach. All of them are just a few minutes from the promenade and represent the natural diversity that makes Moraira a unique destination: from family beaches to hidden coves where you can enjoy the Mediterranean in calm.
The Moraira pueblo promenade is perfect for both a relaxing walk and a full day by the sea.
In addition to enjoying the scenery, there is plenty to see and do in this coastal area.
The route is completely pedestrian, without slopes and accessible to all ages.
Along the way you will find benches and garden areas where you can sit and contemplate the Mediterranean, the Peñón de Ifach in the background and the boats that enter the port.
The sound of the waves and the scent of the sea make walking here a relaxing experience, ideal for unwinding or practicing mindfulness.
Moraira Castle is a must-see. Built in the 18th century to protect the coast from Barbary pirates, today it is a small museum and an excellent viewpoint.
From its esplanade you have one of the best views of the promenade and the main beach.
A few meters ahead is the Moraira Marina, an emblematic point where pleasure boats and luxury yachts dock.
Here you can breathe the nautical atmosphere that characterises Moraira, with elegant restaurants and terraces where you can enjoy the sea with a glass of white wine.
