Jávea (or Xàbia, in Valencian) is one of the most beautiful destinations on the Mediterranean coast. Located between the capes of San Antonio and La Nao, it belongs to the province of Alicante and combines sea, mountains and a unique natural charm.
If you are wondering how to get to Jávea from different cities in Spain, here we explain all the options, by road and public transport, with practical tips.
Jávea is located in the Marina Alta region, north of Alicante and south of Valencia.
It does not have its own train station or airport, but it does have excellent road access and is located between two international airports:
Alicante-Elche (95 km, 1h 15 min)
Valencia-Manises (120 km, 1h 40 min)
Both airports have daily national and international connections, so getting to Jávea is easy from anywhere in the country or abroad.
The distance between Madrid and Jávea is about 465 km, with a journey of approximately 4 and a half hours by car.
Take the A-3 (Madrid–Valencia) until you join the AP-7 (Autopista del Mediterráneo) towards Alicante.
Exit at Ondara–Denia (exit 62) and continue on the CV-735, which leads directly to Jávea.
It is a comfortable route, well signposted and with numerous services.
There is no direct train, but you can take an AVE Madrid–Alicante (2h 20 min) and then an Alicante–Jávea bus with ALSA (2h 15 min).
You can also travel by train to Valencia and continue by bus to Jávea.
Alicante is the most common access point. The distance is 90 km, and the journey takes about 1h 15 min.
From Alicante city centre or airport, take the AP-7 towards Valencia and exit at Ondara–Denia (exit 62).
Another more panoramic alternative is the N-332, which runs along the coast passing through Benissa, Calpe and Teulada.
This tour offers spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea.
ALSA offers daily journeys from Alicante Central Bus Station and Alicante-Elche Airport (via Benidorm).
The journey takes between 2 and 2 h 30 min and ends at the bus station of Jávea, very close to the city center.
Valencia is another key access point, especially for those arriving by train or plane. The distance is 115 km, and the journey takes around 1 h 45 min.
From the centre of Valencia, take the AP-7 towards Alicante and exit at Ondara (exit 62).
Follow the CV-725 to Gata de Gorgos and connect with the CV-734 towards Jávea.
Another alternative is the N-332, a coastal road with beautiful views.
You can take a Cercanías train to Gandia (line C-1) and then a Gandia–Javea bus operated by ALSA (1 h 30 min).
The entire journey takes around 2 h 30 min and is an economical and comfortable option.
The distance between Barcelona and Jávea is about 470 km, with a drive of about 5 h 30 min.
From Barcelona, take the AP-7 towards Valencia/Alicante.
After about 5 hours of travel, exit at Ondara–Denia (exit 62) and continue on the CV-735 to Jávea.
If you prefer a more touristy route, you can travel along the coast on the N-340 or N-332, passing through Peñíscola, Benicàssim or Dénia.
The company ALSA offers direct buses Barcelona–Jávea (duration: about 7 hours), with intermediate stops in Valencia and Denia.
You can also combine AVE Barcelona–Valencia (3 h) + Valencia–Jávea bus (2 h).
Zaragoza is about 430 km from Jávea, with an average travel time of 4 h 45 min by road.
The most direct route is along the A-23 (Mudéjar motorway) to Sagunto, where it connects with the AP-7 towards Alicante.
Take exit 62 (Ondara–Denia) and continue to Jávea on the CV-735.
The route combines mountainous landscapes with coastal views as you reach the Marina Alta.
You can take an AVE Zaragoza–Valencia (1 h 50 min) and then continue by bus Valencia–Jávea.
There is also the option to fly from Zaragoza to Alicante and travel by road or private transfer.
On the road, use the AP-7 for speed or the N-332 if you prefer sea views.
By public transport, ALSA connects Jávea with the main Spanish cities.
Parking in Jávea is easy out of season; in summer, the centre and the Arenal tend to get crowded, so it is recommended to park in peripheral areas such as Plaza de la Constitución or Calle Génova.
Private transfers and taxis operate from Alicante and Valencia airports to Javea 24 hours a day.
Once you you arrive in Jávea, you will understand why so many people decide to make this destination their permanent home.
